A Biokineticist is a clinical exercise specialist who aims to improve physical well-being and quality of life by the use of evaluations and individualised exercise prescription. The primary function of a Biokineticist is to improve physical functioning and health care through the use of exercise.

We are concerned with health promotion, maintenance of physical abilities and final phase rehabilitation.

What does the process entail?

1. Each patient is individually assessed for:

  • Mechanism of injury, i.e., how did injury occurred.
  • Training history, i.e., what your work or exercises demand daily.
  • Method of training, i.e., illustrating the way you perform exercises.
  • Posture, which is important to individualize rehabilitation programmes.
  • Muscle functioning, i.e., tight, long, weak, strong, muscle imbalances, muscle firing patterns, etc.
  • Medical history, i.e previous injuries, surgeries or other medical conditions (high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.)

2. Rehabilitation programmes are:

  • Based on the outcomes from the assessments.
  • Designed to meet the individual needs and expectations of each patient.
  • Taking into consideration the skills, fitness level, sports specific and work demands of each patient.
